About Our School

Decorative Picture - Liza Jackson

Liza Jackson Preparatory School, located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, has been in existence since 2001 and currently serves approximately 800 students in grades K-8.  The school is named for Liza Jackson, a prominent hotelier and benefactor for many years in Okaloosa County, and grandmother of one of our founders, CEO Terri Roberts.

Liza Jackson is a public charter school.

Purpose
Liza Jackson Preparatory provides a student-centered, rigorous approach that gives students a strong academic foundation for high school while also building confidence, self-esteem, and effective work habits.

LJPS is based on the latest research regarding developmentally-appropriate school structure, curriculum, and practice.  Each grade has a team of highly qualified teachers dedicated to creating the best learning environment for their students.  These teachers share common planning time and plan instruction and student activities together each day.  This close coordination allows the teachers to plan field trips and interdisciplinary activities together, and to align policies and procedures so that students have a consistent experience.

Philosophy
The philosophy of the school is best expressed in the mission statement:

“We are a caring community of learners, dedicated to making the world a better place, through academic preparation, good manners, common sense and 100% effort.”
